Opening drink & Vernissage

Drink and opening of the exhibitions in the Cinema Nova Bar. In addition to the many films on show during the festival, the works of two queer artists from the East will be exhibited across the 10 days of the festival in the CINEMA NOVA bar. {{Martynka Wawyzyniak}} (Pologne, 1979) is a multi media artist (photography, video, performance, installations) based in New York. Using projection, four young girls directly illustrate the alienation which arises from our adoption of the many social 'airs and graces' that constrain our every day lives in different ways. {{Jill Peters}} is the photographer of the 'Sworn Virgins': a group of women who have taken a vow of celibacy since their youth and live their lives as men. Through these amazing and moving portraits, the photographer hopes to 'capture' these singular identities before they are lost forever. You will be also able to discover the creations of two other artists: {{Randa Mirza}} (1978) lives in Beirut and Marseille. She seeks to transgress the normalization of social practices and to subvert the status quo. In the Lebanese context of a society under re(construction), her practice seeks to give a voice to what is not represented, thus questioning social constructions. {{Maritaud Felix}} is a young artist who has undertaken an independent research on gender and identity. He presents an instalaltion facility where mediums are crossed, where photography become a sound, where poetry is visible but without words.
