Matthias et Maxime

Two childhood friends kiss for the needs of a non-professional short film. Following this apparently insignificant kiss, a recurrent doubt sets in, confronting both boys with their preferences and sowing the ground for a clear sense of trouble in their relationship. An indecisive portrait of this angle of double, of floating between the extremes of an amorous love, this film remains loaded with the two characters' tangible desires. Xavier Dolan's eighth feature film is consistetnly deeply intense and imbued with a passionate lyricism, but it appears to be less frenetic, calmer... Perhaps this is due to the mellow thirties that are approaching...
