Bruno is a minor. The teenager, who dreams of tenderness and a love different from that of his family and his nation, is denied it — especially when the love in "question" is marked by disgrace. So, in response to the "images of the nation," Bruno counters with his dreams and fantasies — with his "imagination." Angels have sexes and use them for their happiness. Bruno says this is good, and he ascends to heaven.
