Kobieta Z... (‘Woman of...’), a reference to director Andrzej Wajda (The Marble Man, 1977; The Iron Man, 1981), traces 45 years in the life of Aniela Wesoły, including her journey to freedom as a trans* woman. The film is the result of countless encounters between the filmmakers and trans* people of all ages who have been living in Poland for decades; several of them star in and play both trans* and cis characters. Aniela's arduous journey to freedom unfolds as a metaphor for Poland's transition, the two stories intertwining in a vibrant and hopeful double fresco.
