Synopsis
A Communist activist, Roberto Orbea enters politics at the end of the Franco dictatorship in Spain. However, his political beliefs clashed with his homosexuality, leading him to keep it a secret. A group from the far-right then uses his private life - paying off his lover - to trap him in order to distablilise him. Eloy de la Iglesia tackles taboos and other difficult subjects in post-Franco Spain, such as crime and violence, political activism, binge-drinking, gang-ridden suburbs, prostitution and homosexuality. His films take an unrelenting approach to examine the woes and shortcomings of Spanish society at the time.
