While Jonathan (24) seeks solace and dates on Grindr, Milagros (37) wants to prolong her carefree youth in her remaining last years of fertility. They steal Milagros' father's Chevrolet and set off on a journey through Andalusia. The driving and friendship mitigate the confusion caused by the deceptive freedom of the early 21st century. A mad road movie, one and all music, in which an enchanted mermaid sets the pace for the journey.

 

With this first film, Julia de Castro & Marìa Gisèle Royo have created a queer feminist road movie through Andalusia, in which music, dance and sensuality come together beautifully. The two young directors have managed to create a surreal, hedonistic and frenzied world populated by camp characters straight out of the early films of Pedro Almodóvar and Gregg Araki. A brilliant trio of actors and a refreshing vision of the body, sex and friendship make this an exciting and militant work that dares to look life straight in the eye, without fear of tomorrow.
