Sven Ritter lives with his mother, Edeltraut, who suffers from dementia. The two share everything, even the bed. Daniël takes care of Edeltraut during the day, while Sven goes to work. Slowly the two men begin to develop an attraction and affection for each other, which manifests itself gently at times, and at others more violently. ‘Dicke mädchen’ is a film almost entirely improvised, made with a budget of just 517,32 Euro. It is a beautifully bittersweet romance, told with both humor and magic.
