In 1840, Mary Anning (Kate Winslet), a leading paleontologist living a secluded life, is entrusted by a wealthy ammonite collector with his sick young wife so that she can enjoy the fresh air. Unenthusiastic, but living very modestly, Mary accepts. The first few days are more than tense, but slowly they get to know each other. They will love each other passionately.

Freely inspired by the life of Mary Anning, this second feature film by the English director (God's Own Country - Pink Screens 2017), tackles two important themes: the frequent erasure, throughout history, of any trace of lesbian love in biographies, and the spoliation of the discoveries of many female researchers by their male counterparts.
