"The Super 8 National Film Festival was founded in 1974 by Robert Malengreau and Marcel Croës, and quickly became an unmissable event, especially for those to whom it offered the much-needed freedom to combine artistic curiosity and political convictions. The festival's films showcase an era of unleashed creativity and the need for queer cinema for and by queer people.
Peliskan, an association set up in 2019, is a collective of filmmakers and artists from artisanal film labs such as Labo Bruxelles and Labobis, who mainly work with formats such as Super 8 and 16mm. Peliskan looks to create spaces to rediscover long-forgotten film heritage, with the main objective of safeguarding the films presented at the Super 8 National Film Festival.
Pink Screens will present four of these restored films, and the screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers and members of the collective.
The organisation Pelizkan and their restoration work is funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU
