Out laws is a documentary investigation that follows several activists as they challenge laws criminalising LGBTQIA+ people in their respective countries. All of these countries are former British colonies. We delve into the archives and discover that the laws enacted by the former colonial power are the roots of queerphobia in these societies. This prompts us to question certain assumptions and stand up to governments.
The film exposes, on the one hand, the political forces attempting to force queer people back into the closet and, on the other hand, the movement that resists with courage, pride, and solidarity.
