On February 12, 1976, Salvatore Mineo is stabbed to death in front of his West Hollywood residence. In his first full-length film James Franco depicts the last hours of the actor, James Dean’s friend who also played his “protégé” in Nicholas Ray’s “Rebel without a Cause”. Sal potrays the man and his dreams, as well as the Hollywood of the time. Like all the short movies he has made, it is a fascinating questionning of masculinity and its representations.
